I won a prize in the FXGT trade competition!
Along with the HFM real account, I was running Selene separately in my FXGT trading competition account...
The top 80 places were eligible to win prize money, and we just barely managed to rank in the bottom 80!
The final results for the accounts that were running Selene were
- ROI (Return on Investment) 59% (Started at 100,000 yen, final balance 158,997 yen (+58,997 yen))
- Drawdown 0% (determined by unrealized loss at the end of the day)
- Volatility 16.92
- Sharpe ratio 3.49
The result was the end of the project.
The prize money for the 80th place was 100,000 yen, so together with the profit and loss from the trade, the profit was 158,997 yen for the two weeks.
Although 80th place may not sound like much, it represents a 59% increase in account balances in just about two weeks , since the trade competition was held for about two weeks.
Even a 59% annual interest rate is good enough, but to think that we were able to reach that in two weeks means that we were able to make a profit at a frighteningly high pace. (I think it was largely due to good market chemistry, too.)

In such a situation, I feel that it was a very good result that we were able to operate the EA without any major drawdowns, had low volatility in the balance transition compared to other traders (balance did not fluctuate wildly and risk was low), and recorded a high rate of return to reach the prize-winning position.
On the last day, I was on the verge of winning the prize, so I added lots at my discretion just before the end of the day to cover the EA's entry, and I was able to get into the prize range... Other than that, I operated the EA only, completely uninterrupted, so in reality, anyone could have achieved this level of performance if they had operated the same EA in the same way. In fact, anyone could have achieved this level of performance by operating the same EA in the same way.
The appeal of automated trading is that it can be a reproducible investment method.
I would like to use EA to participate in any contests that are held again.
